Obituary
Анна Грицишин народилася в Лосі на Лемківщині 9-го серпня 1923 року в родині Івана Євусяка та Анастасії Шлянти. Друга за віком із шести братів і сестер, працьовита родина добре жила у своєму селі до 1947 року, коли їх примусово депортували до західної Польщі під час комуністичної урядової операції «Акція Вісла». Там вона жила зі своєю сім'єю в зруйнованій війною будівлі, поки вона сама не змогла емігрувати до Канади в 1960 р. Після прибуття до Торонто, Анна познайомилася з Михайлом Грицишином, незабаром вони одружилися 6-го червня 1964 року, a через рік народився їм син Роман a за ним другий син Мирон. Врешті-решт молода пара змогли спонсорувати матір Анни Анастасію, її брата Михайла, сестру Стефанію та сестру Марію з родиною до Канади. Сім'я означала для Анни все, і як дружина, і матір вона пишалася тим, що доглядала за її сім'єю, а в її домі завжди було тепло і гостинно. Особливо вона любила своїх п’ятьох онуків, завжди раділа слухати про кожного з них і регулярно стежила за тим, що відбувається в їхньому житті. Було певно, що кожного разу, коли Анна їх бачила, онуки знали, що бабця витягне з сумочки жменю шоколадних цукерок Рошен. Як набожна католичка, Анна була однією з перших парафіянів церкви Святої Покрови. Тут вона добровільно віддала значну частину свого часу в Лізі Українських Католицьких Жінок. Її віра була невід’ємною частиною її життя і завжди керувало нею у всьому що вона робила. Увечері 14-го лютого 2021 року, Анна несподівано померла в лікарні St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Вона залишає в глибокому смутку свого чоловіка Михайла, синів Мирона та Романа з невісткою Лесею, онуками Оріяною (Scott Hayward), Адріаном, Тамарою, Лукіяном та Інесою, сестрою Стефанією Шикулою, братовою Марією Євусяк та ширшою родиною в Канаді, США та Польщі. Похоронні відправи відбудуться у п'ятницю, 19-го лютого 2021 року у церкві Святої Покрови, і Анна буде похована на кладовищі Св. Володимира в Оквіл. Anna Hrycyshyn was born in Losie, Lemkivshchyna on August 9, 1923 to Ivan Jewusiak and Anastasia Szlanta. The second oldest of six siblings, the hard-working family lived well in their selo until 1947, when they were forcibly deported to western Poland under the communist government operation “Aktsia Visla.” There she lived with her family in a war-torn building, until she alone was able to emigrate to Canada in 1960. Upon her arrival in Toronto, Anna met Mychailo Hrycyshyn, they soon wed on June 6, 1964, and were blessed with two sons, Roman and Myron. Eventually, the couple were able to sponsor Anna’s mother Anastasia, her brother Mychailo, sister Stefania, and sister Maria with her family to Canada. Family meant everything to Anna, and as a wife and mother she took great pride in ensuring that her family was well taken care of, and her home always warm and inviting. She especially loved her five grandchildren, always delighting in hearing about each of them and regularly following up on what was going on in their lives. It was certain that every time Anna saw them, the grandchildren knew that Babcia would pull out a handful of Roshen chocolates from her purse. As a devout Catholic, Anna was one of the first parishioners of the Church of the Holy Protection. Here she volunteered much of her time with the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League. Her faith was an integral part of her life and always guided her in everything she did. On the evening of February 14, 2021, Anna passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. She leaves to mourn her husband Mychailo, sons Myron and Roman with daughter-in-law Lesia, grandchildren Oriyana (Scott Hayward), Adriyan, Tamara, Lukiyan and Inessa, sister Stefania Szykula, sister-in-law Maria Jewusiak, and extended family in Canada, United States and Poland. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Church of the Holy Protection, and Anna will be laid to rest at St. Volodymyr Cemetery in Oakville.
