Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Anna, in her 94th years at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, with her family by her side. Her journey was from her village in Ukraine to Germany as slave labour, to a Displaced Person camp and then chosen to go to England and lastly to her beloved Canada. She was a long time member and supporter of St. Volodymyr Cathedral. She was a wonderful, caring friend to many. Anna was predeceased by her first husband Stefan, and her second husband Phillip (1997). She leaves in grief her daughter Olga (Lee) and grandchildren Peter (Caroline), Paul (Sheetal) and great grandson Roman, her daughter Luba (Michael) and grandchildren Michael and Katherine. And she leaves her favourite niece Tanya and her family in Ukraine. The Family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Care Centre and her faithful companion Maria A. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 4, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, with Panachyda (prayers) at 7:30 p.m. A funeral will be held on Friday August 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. at All Saints of Ukraine Chapel, Oakville (Dundas & 4th Line). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Anna Makey to St. Volodymyr Renovation Fund, 406 Bathurst Street, Toronto Ontario M5T 2S6, or do a kind deed for someone unexpectedly.
