Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce our mother's passing on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, Toronto at the age of 89. She was a loving and caring wife of 63 years to her beloved late husband William, and a devoted mother to Michael (Carolyn) and friend to all. She was born in the village of Strilcze in Western Ukraine in 1923. Our mother lived a long and challenging life, having been separated from her beloved homelade, husband and her parents for a large period of her early life. She came to Canada in the late 50's to be reunited with her husband and to start a new life for her family. She died as she lived, loved by her family and the many people who knew her. " You are not forgotten loved one, nor will you ever be, as long as life and memory last, we will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore, as times go by we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your vacant place." Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette St.,on Sunday, June 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. A Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4 Bellwood Ave., on Monday , June 18th at 10:15 a.m. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Zownir, her devoted care providers (Maria, Maria, Oksana and Joulia) and staff at the UCCC. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of our mother's love of children, donations may be made to The Children of Chornobyl or to a charity of your choice.
