Zia Carmela, what a woman! A kind, generous, and strong woman, so full of life. You were a source of strength and guidence for me. At ninety one, when I asked you, "How are you?", you always answered, "Sto buona, Zia Carmela è forte." I hope I can be as strong as you were. I love you. You will always be in my heart.

My Zia Carmela, what will we do without you? You were the light of our family. You were the reason that my family came to Canada. Your brothers, Antonio and Calogero, followed you to Canada and never left your side. Now you have joined them in heaven. You have been there for us all my life. Always concerned about our well being. I remember you calling me to come by to pick up pizza or pesto or your famous "croccante".I can't even begin to tell you how my colleagues raved about it. I only wish I had learned to make it. You were a special lady. Zia Carmela you were the most generous, good hearted woman I have ever met. I just wish I could be half the woman you were, I love you forever and will always miss you.

The first time that I met Signora Carmela was because she heard that I needed help. I was a stranger, but she came to help me! She is a special and caring woman that has treated me with love and laughter since the first day we met about nine years ago. Signora Carmela helped me on that first day we met and I will never forget how special she made me feel. I will miss her laughter, charm, but most all her kindness! She made me feel like family. She will be loved and never forgotten. God bless Signora Carmela!

I will never forget the many Holidays and special occasions we spent at her home, where she welcomed everyone and anyone, while I was growing up. Those memories have, and WILL remain with me forever. She was a true spirit of life my Zia Carmela, she was loved as much as she loved, and that was a great deal. I will miss her dearly....but I will never forget her. She now joins that great cast of characters in the heaven's, that include my Mom and Dad, among many other special people that have left us with fond memories of them all. The tales that she will tell them now will amuse them like she amused us with the same tales, they will laugh and yell and bicker just like they used to around the dinner table at all our functions at her house, but one is for sure, she has joined them to watch all of us here, and protect us here...because that's what she always did, and always will... Farewell Zia Carmela, rest in peace...You earned it !!! Your nephew, Tonino Grieco
