In Celebration of CLAUDETTE VERONICA (JACKSON) MARVILLE

November 3, 1935-July 4, 2020

On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Claudette (Jackson) Talbot Marville beloved daughter of the late Archibald Elvis Jackson and the late Rosalie Sybil Duncan, Wife of Hugh Marville (deceased), sister to Ovid Jackson(Verona), Arthur Jackson, mother to Michael Elvis Marville (Alana), Marilyn Ellen Punsammy, Cecile Marville-Williams (Paul), and Che  Marville(Joe). Grandmother to Ayanna Marville, Keita Marville (Stephanie), Mark Punsammy (Ashley), Chloe Williams, Bria Williams, Josh Sponder, Jessie Sponder, Isabella Sponder, and William Sponder, Great grandmother to Jayla Punsammy, Markis Punsammy, Ezra Marville and Alani Marville, died peacefully at St Michael's Hospital after a sudden illness.

Claudette was born in Berbice, Guyana, South America. She studied Nursing in Tottenham, England, and worked as a midwife before immigrating to Canada in 1974. Claudette raised her 4 children in Toronto and worked at Toronto Western Hospital as a Registered Nurse for thirty years until she retired. Claudette was loved by all who knew her. She was passionate about her Anglican faith and participating in caring for those less fortunate in her community, and an active member of her parish at St James Cathedral.

A heartfelt thanks also to all our family and friends across the world and her neighbors who have provided love and support. We will hold a small family ceremony of remembrance for Claudette privately, with a larger celebration of life planed once it is safe to be together.

Flowers can be sent to Cardinal Funeral home at 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario M5T 2S6, or in Lieu of flowers you can donate to St Michael's Hospital Foundation - Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit

To all of Claudette's family. Elizabeth Wall and Bob Saunders - friend, neighbour and fellow St. James' Parishioners -- we send heartfelt condolences on your loss. Claudette was one of the most beautiful people we've had the privilege to meet - love and kindness shone through her soul. Unless she was sick, we ALWAYS met at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday church services - we made sure to connect and be greeted with that gorgeous smile. We also played bingo together, and if we were sharing a little meal at Christmas - she always said the grace. She was a true Christian. Will miss her VERY MUCH.

Hello Micheal, I wanted to reach out to you my long-standing friend to let you know that I am so sorry to hear that your Mom is no longer. My heart goes out to you and your family with love and friendship in your time of sorrow. I have only met your Mom twice but, on each occasion, I readily concluded that she was very much like my Mom – very attentive and loving. Moreover, I identify with the anguish you must have felt and the tears you must have shed in witnessing her slow decline and impending demise. I endured similarly for my Mom. May time heal the sadness that you feel with the loss of your Mom. During these tough times, know that you are in my thoughts. You have my deepest sympathy buddy.

Che, Joe, Josh, Jessie, Bella, William and Vishnu. Very sorry for your loss. Like many people who worked at the Science Centre when the warm, bright, and amazing Che was there, I am saddened to hear of the loss of your mother. I am certain many people thinking of you all and sending love to you and your family. My mother was also a registered nurse who raised four children after being widowed early in my life. Nursing is one of the noblest professions, and I also had the example of a strong mother facing adversity in a patriarchal society, where women's earnings were far less than men's, but who had the strength of character to make time to care for her family and care for her community. I know it is a big loss, and just hoping the experience of who your mother was will give you strength to get through this difficult time.

When people at workplace, who had clearly lost their minds, tried to assert power, I would remind them that they were not my source and that the only people I was afraid of were my mother and Che's mom. Ms Claudette welcomed me, I felt at home, safe and cared for. Will be missed. While she may not be here, she is everywhere. Thanks Che, for sharing this gift to and from you with me.

Sending our heartfelt condolence and love during this difficult time. Auntie will not be forgotten because there are so many beautiful memories of her warmth, generosity, and humor. Her laughter was pure joy. And remembering her deep friendship with my mom is an experience to be treasured. I wish all of you the best and sending prayers of comfort.

Our sincerest condolences to the Marville family for the loss of your mother, grand(great-grand )mother. My fondest memories of Claudette was her cheerful pleasant personality. She was soft spoken and very caring. Always ready to help those in need. She was a dear friend to my parents (Joseph and Yvonne Homes) and was one of my first customers when I started my part-time baking business of Guyanese treats. Claudette will be remembered for her kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace in the home of the Lord. Take comfort in all the memories you once shared. Sincerest Regards, Jacqueline Holmes and my father Joseph Holmes
