Obituary

Merkel, Eileen M (née Coulson) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother Eileen, on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter and her adored son-in-law Brian. Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her children; Susan (David), Daphne (the late Brian), Pam, Todd (Danielle), and Tim. Devoted grandma to Evan (Kim), Breanne (Rob), Brooke, Claire (Rasih), Taylor (Katie), Sarah (Alex), Jason, Nicole and Stella. Cherished GG to Sophie, Abby, Stryder, Marley and two Bailie babies who will arrive this summer. Beloved sister of George (Louise) and Ruth (Ken) Wright. Dearest friend of the Newtons. Eileen will be immensely missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and her many friends, especially the Bailie, Wylie and Beatty families. There was no way to not love our Mom from the moment you met her. Her warmth, sharp intellect, her constant smile and loving heart will never be forgotten. Mom's strength and her love for her family is what will carry us all forward, until we meet again. Family and friends may call at the McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road, Scarborough on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of our Moms life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at St. Margaret in the Pines Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Cardinal Funeral Home, Bathurst Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests you donate to the charity closest to your heart.

What good memories we have of Eileen, from our years together at St. Giles Church in Scarborough! Whatever was going on, there was always a giggle underlying the work, keeping spirits light. She will be remembered with love.
