Obituary

Evangelina was born in Terceira, Azores on July 26, 1934.  She married Manuel Rodrigues on June 24, 1955  and gave birth to her daughter Marilia in October of 1957.  (Coincidently, The ring bearer at her wedding Manuel Fernando Cota became her son-in-law in 1975). The three of them emigrated to Canada in May of 1960.  Unbeknownst to her, she was pregnant with her son Arlindo and gave birth to him in January of 1961.  Evangelina was a kind generous soul.  She will be most remembered for her generosity towards her friends and family.  She always visited her sickfriends and supported grieving friends and family at the loss of a loved one.  She was selfless, always putting others needs before her own.  She loved spiritual music, Christmas carols and folklore from Azores.  The first albums she purchased in Canada were a Beatles album and a Paul Anka album.  She loved animals and was especially attached to a couple schi-poohs named Bert and Ernie.  She loved her outings to Nova Era with her cousin and best friend Delfina (also known as her second daughter).  She loved her pasteis de nata and rissois de camarao.  Cooking was not her forte, but she was always willing to cook some hotdogs or make grilled cheese sandwiches for her grandchildren.  She was notorious for forgetting to unwrap the cheese slice before grilling the sandwich.  She was resilient.  She always managed to bounce back from any illness or injury.  Sadly the vascular dementia took its toll robbing her of her personality and memories.  Such a tragedy.  She will never be forgotten.  She will live forever in our hearts and our memories.
