Obituary

It is with great sadness that Gilda de Melo Correia, beloved wife, mother, sister, vavó and friend, peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Born on September 6, 1931, Gilda graced the world with her presence for 92 years. Throughout her journey, she touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, kindness and unwavering dedication to those in need.  Gilda will be remembered most for her love of family.  She was the heart and soul of her home, a woman with admirable integrity and perseverance.  Gilda enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and her unwavering faith.  She leaves behind her daughter, Connie (Natalino), her adored grandchildren, Andrea (Shane) and Keith and her beloved great grandchildren, Scarlett and Jaxson.  She will be reuniting with her husband, Gilberto and her daughter Adriana in heaven.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our family and friends who have supported us through this difficult time.  Thank you to the staff in the Palliative Unit of Credit Valley Hospital and the kindness and patience of Dr. Alvin Szeto.

Though her physical presence may be gone, Gilda will live in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society of Ontario.
