Obituary

Irena Mamak (nee Tomaszweska), August 18, 1928 – January 23, 2020, at the age of 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and loving family. Irena was born in Poland and was a survivor of the Polish Child Forced Labour during WWII. She met her husband in a Displaced Persons Camp in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1950. Irena loved to laugh, give hugs, sew, create beautiful flower arrangements and make her famous Baba cakes. Most of all she loved to help and take care of her family and anyone else who needed it. Her kindness and generosity touched many around her. Irena is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving husband Kazimierz, her children Richard (Mary), Nicholas (Anouk), Christine Seto (Michael), her grandchildren Adam (Holly), David (Elaine), Matthew, Rachel, and great-grandchildren Laura, Layla and Joshua. Many thanks to the compassionate nurses and staff on 3 South at Copernicus Lodge Long Term Care and on 6M at St. Joseph's Health Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Toronto Humane Society.
