It is with great sadness that our family announces that Isaura Carvalho passed away on Sunday, March 7th in the comfort of her home and with her children by her side. At age 95, her passing comes just over 5 years after the death of her beloved husband, Domingos Carvalho (January 06, 2016).   She was cherished by her children, Annabel (& Nelson) and John (& Helia), as well as the proud "Vovo" to Sara (& Mathew), Ryan (& Dina), Brandon, and Jordan. She will also be greatly missed by her many brother and sister in-laws, as well as nieces and nephews in Canada, Portugal and France. Predeceased by her parents Alberto Paolo Coelho and Silvina De Graca Pereira, brother Joao Manuel Coelho and sister Alice Barbosa.   After getting married by proxy , she emigrated from Geraz do Minho, Portugal in 1960 to join her husband and start a new adventure building the foundation for their family here in Toronto. Together, with courage and optimism, they carved-out a new life in Canada eventually bringing over their brothers and sisters, forming a large extended family. They loved to have fun, attending the latest events at a variety of social clubs, getting together with friends, playing sueca, dancing and would often be seen pulling into their driveway long after their millennial grandchildren were fast asleep. True social butterflies!   Mom was the Matriarch of the Carvalho clan and dedicated her life to building the foundation for her tight-knit family. She loved to create memories at large family gatherings, picnics, BBQs, dinner parties and recently veranda visits. She will be remembered for giving the best “miminhos”, sewing clothes, knitting slippers, telling stories of times past and hilarious naughty jokes now and then. She will also be remembered for her chic look consisting of the staples: a fresh hair perm, painted nails, necklace and of course the clip earrings.  A force to be reckoned with, those that knew her would describe her as “95 going on 55”, sharp as a whip with humour and wit. She was a smart, strong, resilient, and determined woman. A lifelong learner, always curious and up-to-date on the latest world events. She was a pillar of strength for the family, as many would often lean on her for help and advice.   The memories she made will never be forgotten and the love she shared will be felt forever. She will be missed beyond words but we are comforted in knowing that our parents are together again. Go dance with daddy, mom, he’s waiting for you.   She'll be laid to rest with her husband at Assumption Cemetery in Mississauga following a private ceremony for immediate family due to COVID regulations.   In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to honor Isaura are invited to make a donation to her favorite charity Operation Smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Operation Smile Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Annabel, John, Nelson, Helia and family, Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beautiful mom and grandmother. Your mom’s passion for life, loyalty to friends and love and pride for her family was transparent and honorable. She truly enjoyed life and truly took the time to enjoy the little things of life. I so often remember running into both your parents at the coffee shops on College Street – sometimes just the 2 of them, sometimes with other couples talking and laughing loudly – God Bless! Their home parties were always a treat – the basement at the Palmerston house – so many good memories. And of course the card games….I remember that she was often the only woman playing cards with the men – remarkable and truly inspiring! She’s at peace now and happily with your dad. You guys were great and she was a lucky mom and grandmother. Our hearts are with you today. Sending you a BIG virtual hug and strength. Lots of love always, The Pereira and Frappier Family
