Obituary
Ludmilla, Szcherbachenko was born in southern Ukraine o 27th, April 1923. She studied architecture and drafting in Germany after the war years. Several years later, Ludmilla married twice, having two children, Natalya, and Andrey, in Canada. Ludmilla and her beloved husband Julian Sumyk were both very active in their cultural circles and churches, contributing generously to the Ukrainian community with a loving spirit. Ludmilla taught history and language classes in parochial schools, and was a passionate fine craftsman and ceramic artist. She taught ceramic classes, specializing in traditional old Slavic designs, and decorative motifs . She was an accomplished couturiere, and a passionate supporter of the arts and music, especially loving opera and the ballet . The world she lived in was made more beautiful by the great love of life, humanity, and the sweetness of the soul that was my Mother. She was very small , but had a very big spirit, and personality . I am infinitely grateful for the depth of love I have known and experienced in my Mother's love. As deep as the ocean, as wide as the skies of Heaven, and as bright as the Stars above us… Her name Ludmilla, means Lover of the people. The love my Mother had within her, and shone out to the world , has made me who I am. I thank the Blessed Virgin , for the love I have been so blessed to receive, from both my Mother, and my loving, kind and wonderful father , Julian Sumyk, who passed away a few years ago… May my Mother’s spirit be joyous, blessed and embraced by Angels. her loving daughter, NatalyaVisitation
