Obituary

Maria Boshyk Maria passed peacefully on May 28, 2015 in her 94th year, surrounded by love and support of her family and friends at the Ivan Franko Home. Beloved wife of 67 years to the late Paul Boshyk, loving mother of Yury (Nadia) and Walter (Dianne). Devoted Baba to Zara, Julia, Andrika, Laryssa, Paul, and Peter. She will be greatly missed by family and friends in Canada and Ukraine. Born December 29, 1921 in Kiev province of Ukraine, Maria survived the Famine of the 1930s, the Second World War, and the Displaced Persons camp in Germany to start a new and better life in Canada in 1948. Maria was an active and passionate member of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, holding key executive positions in the Women’s Sv. Olha Branch of the Church, and honoured for her community work by the Ontario legislature and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. Her volunteerism never took away from her love and devotion to her family. Her love of life, family, and Church will leave a lasting legacy. The family would like to thank the staff at Ivan Franko Home and Maria V. for their attentive care of Maria. Friends will be received by the family on Monday June 1, from 6pm-9pm at Cardinal Funeral Home 366 Bathurst St. Panahyda at 7:30pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 2 at 10am at St. Volodymyr Cathedral 400 Bathurst St. Interment St. Volodymyr Cemetery Oakville.
