Obituary

Maria Fatima Couto, 82, born September 3, 1940 passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on January 28, 2023. Loving wife of the late Manuel. Devoted Mom of Cidalia (Tony), Helen (Joe), and Ana (Joe). Beloved Vavó of Tiffany, Jason, Ashley, Melinda, Kayla, Megan, and Ryan. Treasured Vozinha of Abigail, Jacob, Greyson, and Noah. Dear sister of Fernando (Espirito Santo) Ferreira.

Fatima was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1974.  She worked as a seamstress for 11 years.  Her passion was making clothes with her daughters.  In 1985, she decided to start her next journey in life by staying home to take care of her 7 grandchildren, which she adored more than life.  Her infectious love and deep conversations will be remembered and passed on through generations.  She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her faith and for supporting her community.  Fatima will be deeply missed by all whose lives she has touched.
