Obituary

Maria Zelia Goncalves of Toronto, and formerly Azores, Portugal, passed peacefully at Matthews House Hospice on Saturday January 25, 2020, in her 90th year. Daughter of the late Afonce Ernesto and Gloria DeMelo. Beloved wife of the late Joao Goncalves. Loving mother of the late John Goncalves and his wife Paula, Anicete Goncalves and his wife Diana, and Mike Goncalves and his wife Robin. Loved by her grandchildren Nikkita and partner Sandy, Ryan, John and partner Christie, Sean and partner Hannah, Jordan and Jason, and great-grandchildren Harper, Cooper, Eden and John. Friends and Family are welcome to join the Goncalves family for Visitation at the Cardinal Funeral Home (Bathurst Chapel), 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto on Wednesday January 29th, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church (588 Adelaide St. West, Toronto) on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at 9:45am, followed by the Burial at Prospect Cemetery (1450 St. Clair Ave West, Toronto) at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maria to the Matthews House Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the Goncalves family.
