ONYSCHUK, Odarka (nee Merena)Peacefully in her sleep on August 11, 2005. Beloved wife of Yaroslaw. Loving mother of Bohdan and wife Tania, George and wife Mary. Devoted grandmother of Motria and husband Victor Morozov, Tamara and husband Peter Elyjiw and great grandmother of Dania, and sister of Christina in Lviv, Ukraine. Born on December 13, 1914 in Ukraine, immigrated to Canada in 1948.
Odarka was a visual artist, internationally known for her Easter eggs and her book "Symbolism of the Ukrainian Easter Egg" and active member of the Ukrainian community. She will be missed greatly by her family and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation on Friday August 12 at Cardinal Funeral Home, 92 Annette Street (Near Keele) from 6:30 - 9:00 PM (Panakhyda at 7:30) Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM on Saturday August 13 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church at Queen & Bellwoods Streets, Toronto. Interment Prospect Cemetery thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, the Shevchenko Scientific Society, or Sts. Peter and Paul
residence in Toronto.
