I always think of fish croquettes when I think of Palmira. She was so generous with what she made. She was so proud of her family and kept us up to date on the wonderful things Amanda was up to. I was a newcomer to the wardrobe and she made me feel welcome and useful. She often stopped at the Portuguese bakery to bring us fresh bread. She worked so hard even when she was in pain and took such pride in her work. She was our tutu woman. I traveled to Portugal about a year ago and thought of her as I ate the delicious food and drank in the warmth and joy of the friendly people. I am sorry you have lost her.

Palmira’s smile and presence were a ray of sunshine to our hearts. Palmira was such a wonderful person and a good friend to so many at the ballet. My mother Victoria, who worked with her, cherished their time together and held the relationship dearly. Palmira always kept in contact by phone. We kept each other updated on the latest developments in our lives. Victoria was always happy to get the call and it brightened up her day. Our condolences to all of the Felgueiras family. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

I only met Va once but she welcomed me and my husband, Joe's (step)son, into her home with open arms. Her smile, warmth, and love radiated. Sending so much love to the Felgueiras family. Her generous heart is evident through her children and grandchildren. We are blessed and grateful to have known her.

I met Palmira in 1986. I was new to Toronto, new to the National Ballet and new to my career. Palmira made me feel welcome right away. Always generous with her knowledge and her advice, her memories and her smile. Sometime later when I moved to her neighbourhood her generosity continued. Whenever I met her in the street she always had time to stop and chat and offer advice - where to buy the best bread, where to buy the best chicken. And always a smile. I will always have fond memories of Palmira. I think of her often when I walk through this neighbourhood and also when I look at the beautiful costumes that she made. My condolences to her family whom she loved so much

Our mother, our grandmother, our friend and our neighbour, A woman with a strong mind, strong hands, a strong heart and strong faith. With her strong mind she was a fighter. Always going forward for what she wanted. With her strong hands she never stopped working. Always giving service to her family and friends. With her strong heart she was kind. Always spreading her love. And with her strong faith she brought us hope. Always when we were in need. It is this hope that brings us together now in peace. Knowing that Palmira is smiling bright and sending us all of her strength. We will miss you so much Palmira, but we will never forget you. We love you, and always will.

I joined the National Ballet wardrobe department in 1970 and was thrilled to find this little United Nations of staff, all devoted to each other and their families. Making exquisite costumes was the icing on the cake. Palmira’s boundless energy and laughter could fill the sewing room. I will remember her with the greatest fondness. My heartfelt condolences to the family, Pam

Palmira and I worked together for a good part of her long career as a member of The National Ballet of Canada's Wardrobe. Palmira was a skilled seamstress and some of the costumes she helped to make are still being used today. Although it's been quite a while since Palmira left the wardrobe all who knew her have been sharing their memories of the time we spent together, remembering her bright smile surrounded by piles of tutu net. Designer Santo Loquasto called yesterday to express his condolences. More recently I have seen Palmira often as she helped my neighbour Mr. Ravasini with his garden. Whenever we met she was always eager to hear about her old friends at the Ballet and to share news about her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren's achievements. Rest in peace Palmira, you will be missed.

Palmyra, our hearts are broken. Since the day we met at the National Ballet in 1970, we’ became much more than workmates. We became lifelong friends. My children grew to love you as much as I did because of your sweet, genuine and pleasant personality. I love your children as much as you loved mine. I will miss our telephone conversations in which we updated each other about our families whom we love beyond words. We laughed together and shared our feelings with each other. and reminisced about events at the Ballet. Little did I know that when you attended my 90th birthday celebration in December 2019, that that would be our last physical contact. I will trust that the beautiful memories we shared will linger on forever. R.I.P. my dear friend. You were a shining star in our lives.

I met Palmira in the early days of my career in costuming at the National Ballet of Canada, and spent many hours at the sewing machine across from her, listening to her advice on life, and repeating what I called "Palmira-isms"- one of my favourites being "Do, Undo", which perfectly summed up the art of costuming (we had to stitch and unstitch constantly until the fit and look of the costume was just right- at times a very frustrating process!). At the end of each work day, on her way out the door, she would say, "Well girls....I love you, and I leave you!"- an especially good memory now that she's gone. I thought it might be helpful to her family for me to share these memories of her and her funny, sweet (and sometimes mischievous!) soul. I'll always remember her fondly, as will the rest of the NBofC team from those days. My condolences to all her close friends and family. ❤️
