Obituary
It is with great sadness and with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Rosa. She was deeply loved by so many; none more than her late husband Antonio for whom she will now be reunited. Cherished mother of Mary (Carlo), Rosa (Gus), Silvana (Gino), Santo (Rita), Frank (Lori) and Joseph. Loving grandmother to Melissa (Joseph), Anthony (Patricia), Jason, Christopher (Laura), Justin, Nicole, Alyssa, Brandon, Rocco, Bianca, Matteo, Anthony and Kayla. Proud great-grandmother to Matteo, Ava, Santo and Chloe. Predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Maria, Rosa will be greatly missed by her many loving siblings in Connecticut, Milan and Calabria. Born in Nicastro, Catanzaro, Italy, Rosa immigrated to Canada with her husband and children in 1965. The matriarch of a large Italian family, she proudly established her roots in the Toronto neighbourhood of Little Italy. There, she devoted herself to family and community. She was a strong, compassionate, caring, and religious woman. She was truly amazing in the kitchen. Her meals were legendary and having worked in a few famous College St. restaurants, you’ve likely enjoyed one of her rustic Italian dishes. We will forever miss her vibrant smile and her gentle touch. Friends and family will be received at Cardinal Funeral Home (366 Bathurst St., north of Dundas St.) on Saturday, January 9th from 6-9 p.m. and Sunday, January 10th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church on Monday, January 11th at 9:45 a.m. (72 Mansfield Ave., between College St. and Grace St.). Entombment will follow at Westminster Cemetery (5830 Bathurst St., north of Finch Ave.). As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.Visitation
