Obituary

Mrs. Tatiana Nesteruk passed away peacefully on August 30, 2019 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, surrounded by her children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tatiana leaves behind children Lesia (Michael) and Adam, grandchildren Adam (Michelle), Stefan (Lisa), Amanda (Leo), Aaron (Kaila), Alexandra (Adam), and great grandchildren Declan, Weston, Dominic, Silvia, Arielle and Hunter, and predeceased by great grandson Adrian. Tatiana Nesteruk, nee Byshevich, was born in Dolsk, Ukraine, to Kateryna and Philip Byshevich on October 31, 1927. She was older sister to Serafina (predeceased) and Maria. Tatiana emigrated from Germany to Alberta, Canada, with her family in 1949. After a short period, they moved to the Niagara Falls area. From there, she and her sister Serafina moved to Toronto, where Tatiana met and eventually married her husband Wasyl (predeceased) in 1953, and had two children Lesia and Adam. Tatiana was a devoted mother, always giving her children the best that she could. She was proud of her Ukrainian heritage, and instilled that feeling into her children. Tanya, as she was called, was a dedicated homemaker. She lived for 46 years in the High Park area of Toronto, then in 2000 moved to Barrie, where Adam and his family were living. She enjoyed gardening, cottaging, and doing the most beautiful Ukrainian embroidery. But most of all she enjoyed socializing with her sisters and family. She helped raise many grandchildren, becoming an important part of their childhood. She was their beloved “Baba”, and held a special place in their hearts. And later on, she rejoiced in spending time with her new great grandchildren. Tatiana was a part of so many lives. We will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto on Tuesday, September 3 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Volodymyr's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 400 Bathurst St, Toronto on Wednesday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Volodymyr Ukranian Cemetery, 1280 Dundas St W, Oakville, ON. If anyone wishes to make a donation in memory of Tatiana, her family would appreciate donations being made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
