Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home on January 4th with family by her side at the age of 75. Predeceased by her husband Joao (2003). Beloved mother of Tina (Peter) and Jane (Chris). Adoring vovo of Benjamin and Isabella. Loving long-time partner of Antonio. Venilde will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal, Venilde immigrated to Canada with her husband where they called Toronto home and lovingly raised their daughters. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family, beautiful gardens, creative spirit, sense of humour, infectious laughter and vibrant personality.  As a talented seamstress, she loved spending time sewing and creating new pieces. Venilde also loved history, reading and telling a good story. As an animal lover, she cherished her loyal dog Miguel who was faithfully by her side right to the end. Venilde loved and lived life to the fullest. She was sad to see her time come to end and wanted to be remembered by all for the way she lived her life. She fought a brave and courageous battle and true to her spirited personality, she did so on her own terms and with dignity.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Paolo Mazzotta of the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care and to Kerrie Hughes, R.N. for their compassionate, exceptional care and enduring support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care.

On behalf of my mother Dorothy, my late father Brian, and my sister Bronwen Parker, we would like to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of the sweet, kind and loving Venilde. She was a dear friend to our family for almost 50 years! She was so full of life and good humour! While we will miss her dearly, we will never forget her memory and all of the wonderful time we had together; she was such a special lady and we were lucky to have known her. Rest In Peace, Venilde.
