On Saturday September 24, 2016 Eliana Chan passed peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital. She lived an extraordinary life and fought a good fight. Friends and family may call at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto, on Monday September 26, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 131 McCaul Street, Toronto. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Eliana’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.Visitation

Dearest Eliana, i had just learnt of your passing today at an alumni gathering. I am deeply saddened, and recall the very good times we shared as confidantes back in Fairfield.
I am certain you’re now with the angels. God bless you and till we meet again.

I only learned of this recently. I'm so sorry for your loss. Eliana and I dated 2005/2006 and she was a bright and wonderful soul. I know it's been almost 6 years now, but if her memorial is in Toronto, I would like to go and pay my respects.

I am so very sorry to hear of Eliana's passing. I was privileged to get to know her during her graduate studies at U of T. She was such a kind soul and I have many fond memories of her through those years. My condolences to the family and her loved ones during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Eliana's passing. She came in as a student in BCH at UofT when I was there. I bumped into her from time to time after I left the University and we always had such good chats. Very kind good hearted, gentle, loving person. I am very sad to hear that she is gone. She will be missed. Sending hugs and condolences for you loss.

I always looked up to Eliana. She was incredibly intelligent, but not only that, very friendly, funny, and a great person to be around. I was very much looking forward to her time as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Kim lab. She was a scientist that anyone would want to aspire to be. I truly valued her feedback, more than she will ever know. She had an amazing ability to be able to take a step back from a project, and really look at what is missing, or what alternative direction your research could go. Moreover, she was great to talk to. I will really miss her in the lab. I am truly blessed that I was able to work with her, even though it was for a short time. My sincerest condolences to the family.
