Obituary

Esmeralda "Esme" Sousa Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, December 27 at the age of 65. Dear daughter of the late Joao and Idalina De Sousa. Cherished sister of Maria (Jose), Alice, Filomena, John (Silvana), and Laura (John). Aunt Esme was very proud of her nieces and nephews, Paul, Alex, Chris, Sophia, Johnny, Sacha, Daniel, Saige, Taylen, and the late Alice and Joey. She adored her eight great-nephews. She loved her dear cat Ruby and her late dog Iko. Esme will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her artistic talents, such as her painting inspired by her photography. She was incredibly devoted to her nieces and nephews. A warm and kind-hearted woman with an entrepreneurial spirit, Esme was able to help so many people throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all.

And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
