Obituary

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Flora Babakhani left this world unexpectedly, on January 14, 2022.

She was born on March 14, 1977 in Montreal, Quebec, the daughter of Mario Babakhani and Adriana Valeri.

Flora’s life journey included living in Iran, Italy, Hungary, Scotland and Canada, gathering traditions and customs from each culture and forming the worldly person that she became.

Graduating from Western University with a BA and Wilfred Laurier with a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting she worked as a Financial Controller both in Canada and in Scotland, gaining invaluable experience along the way.

Not being the typical accountant, she was a dreamer who loved travel and adventure and most of all she was a people person. Her bubbly personality and compassion to both friends and strangers made her the fun-loving woman that she was. No dream was unattainable for Flora.

In the past few years her most important dream was to become a mother and, in her determination, she made it happen. Her beautiful baby girl was born on November 5, 2021.

She leaves behind her daughter, Amber, her mother Adriana, her father Mario (Kirstin), sister Mimi (Jonathan), brother’s Simon and Eric, Andrew and Christopher and so many family members and friends in Canada, Italy, Iran, UK, Sweden and elsewhere in the world.

When you think of Flora, celebrate the good memories and fun times that you had with her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Due to covid-19 restrictions, attendees must be pre-register and there are limitations on how many can attend. A private memorial service will be held for family members on Saturday Jan. 29, 2022 at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto, ON

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GoFundMe for Amber (see link below) or to a charity of your choice

Hello, My name is Sergio Migotto. I met Flora a few years ago when she was looking to hire a personal trainer. At that time, she was living in Markham and eventually mid town Toronto. Her goal was to to get into better health to increase her chances of one day having a child. I admired her so much, and i encouraged Flora to stay strong and focused towards her goals. We trained quite often until she decided to pause for a while. We remained in contacted, and one day we exchanged messages, which i still have...she told me about the joy of her life Amber...i was so happy for her. Flora was looking forward to restarting her fitness journey. I recently messaged Flora, however no response. I am incredibly sad to learn that over a year ago she passed.I am so devasted. My sincere condolences to her family. I wish i had an oppurtunity to help her. My heart hurts for everyone. Serge

I met Flora in our 20s through mutual friends and I immediately adored her. Her sense of humour. Her compassion for others, and rock star way of making people believe the best in themselves - and others. She was not afraid to speak her mind. I still try to be that brave. Thanks for allowing me to be part of the service. It was beautiful. All of the speeches were so special. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Flora was a great friend in high school. She was the life of the party and I never remember her without a smile on her face. I had the pleasure of seeing her and her new born baby girl Amber on November 5th. The last time we spoke was on November 30th. I wish it wasn’t the last. I’ll miss you my dear friend.

Sending my love to all who will miss Flora's beautiful energy in their lives. While I do not have many personal memories of my time hanging out with Flora, I have an old cassette tape, where she took charge with me and Mimi, recording an entire radio show, complete with singing commercials, conducting interviews while playing various characters, and telling us younger girls to be quiet when we would get too 'unprofessional'. It makes me smile to think of how many times growing up I'd listen to that cassette. Love and prayers to all who love Flora. xo
