Obituary

Iris Wong was born in Toronto on the 24th of January, 1989, to Albert and Betty Wong. She was the youngest of her sisters, Ann and Erica.

Iris loved spending time outdoors with her friends and family, and she particularly enjoyed the energy of Toronto’s beaches. Iris could be found daily at Einstein's Pub & Cafe on College Street, and developed a reputation for being a pool shark.

Those who mourn Iris will always remember her love of cooking and exploring food, her intensive affection for her dog, Lola, and of course, her passion for Downton Abbey. Memories of her humour, compassion and gentle nature will be cherished by her family and friends forever.

Iris and I lost touch 10 years ago and I thought I would look her up to reconnect. Sorry that she passed away last year. When I moved to Toronto for university, she was one of the few that immediately befriended me and made me feel welcomed. She was a kind and gentle person and I wish we had stayed in touch after I graduated. We bonded a lot over our love of Indie musicians, particularly Iron & Wine. Still to this day whenever I listen to Indie music I always remember Iris.

Well, I’m sorry to hear this. Iris was an interesting billiards player, and she won 65-70% of the time anyway. She was self-possessed and firm in her convictions.

Dearest Albert, Betty, Ann, and Erica, Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and family for many years. Your love, guidance, friendship, and compassion helped provide a great environment for us to grow up in. This was always evident in Iris' beautiful soul. I will forever be grateful for the holidays, hot summers, and quiet moments that we had with Iris. I hope you all find peace as Iris will as well when she continues to watch over us. Please let me know if there's anything that I can do to help, much love always.
