Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Elissa Nicole Donn, on May 21, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 39. Laura will be sorely missed by her mother Patti, her father Eric and her brother Adam as well as countless friends and extended family. She had a passion for the Arts which showed in her longstanding dedication to the improv community as well as her love of films and theatre. Her kind and caring spirit was felt in the local community where she spent much of her time supporting various organizations and local charities. Her gentle spirit will be greatly missed. Due to the COVID 19 restriction, we will be having a private service. A celebration of life service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s name can be made to CAMH.

Words cannot express how sad this tragedy has affected all of us. I have fond memories growing up with and going to Christie Pitts, Baskin Robbins, High park, the Scenic caves and especially Wasaga Beach. Laura introduced me to strawberry and banana froyo and taught me how to skip stones. I always thought we would have another summer together so that she could teach my girls. I miss you, Laura, love you and hope that you have finally found your peace.

I remember Laura as a shy, soft spoken ,kind girl. I remember how she use to laugh at things that wern’t even that funny, but somehow made everyone end up laughing who was around her. I remember how horrible her strawberry cheesecake tasted that she made for Christmas 20 years ago. I remember she was the only one who didn’t laugh at me when I fell off her bike at Wasaga.Laura never showed any anger or unhappiness she was truly a sweet girl. She was loved and will be missed. Until we meet again Rest In Peace.

Laura was a kind and gentle soul. She would Never direct any hate towards anyone. Her personality was very unique. Her sense of humour was one of a kind. We grew up together as cousins, went snowboarding together, went to Atlanta together, And Frequently spent time at her cottage at wasaga. Our connection has always remained positive. And I will remember her as a true angel.

Laura was unfailingly kind, thoughtful, graceful, and funny. Against all odds, somehow her illness never darkened the way she treated others, she kept an open heart. She worked so hard to make her way through the world, and was so protective of her parents; she wanted peace and happiness for them maybe even more than for herself. We adored her, and remain in awe of how much good there was inside her. She found so much calm at Wasaga, it's such a beautiful and fitting place to set her free. Our deepest condolences and best wishes to Laura's immediate and extended families; she was truly special and will be so warmly remembered.

I have many memories of Laura from when we were younger when my family and I would travel over the summer holidays to visit Canada. The cottage, Aunty Patty’s house, all the gatherings we used to have. These are some of my favourite memories. Laura seemed shy at first but she had a great sense of humour. When you talked to her you could tell she was a genuine kind person. I will cherish the memories that I have of her and try to live the rest of my life with her kind spirit. I hope she has truly found peace.

Laura and I met a few times in Toronto between 2011-2014. In the handful of times that we hung out, I was always drawn to her. I always felt safe around her and wanted to spend more time with her because of her energy. She was such a gentle, kind, and caring soul. She felt delicate but inside that delicacy there was a fire that burned brightly. I will miss Laura, and I send my love and condolences to her family and her closest friends. Rest in peace, beautiful Laura.
