Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, Stefania Maria Didycz on August 1, 2023 at the age of 84.

Born in Besko Poland on October 17, 1938 and moved to Ruda-Koltivska Ukraine as a child of war in 1946. In Ukraine she studied political science and worked as a social educator. She loved Books and newspapers. She spoke five languages and she was a great seamstress. She moved to Canada when she was 38 year old and worked at the Christie Brown factory for 25 years. She also loved to cook; making borscht and pierogies was one of her favourite meals. She was strong, smart, talented, beautiful, and passionate.

She taught us patience, endurance, and to work hard and always help someone else.

She will be forever missed by her son, William and daughter-in-law, Eileen, and grandsons, Matthew and Adam. Her generous heart, deep insight, and wisdom will stay with us always.

We like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at UCCC for their excellent care of Mamma D. And the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness showed to Mamma D at the Joseph’s Health Center.

The funeral service will take place at the Chapel at the UCCC, 60 Richview Road, on Friday, August 4th at 10:00am

If desired in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UCCC, 4th Floor for Alzheimer/Dementia program. This would be most appreciated.
