Obituary

Suzy Jones passed away peacefully on June 2, 2022. She was bold and fearless, always living life on her own terms. Her tenacity was equally matched by her kind and loving spirit. She had the incredible ability to make everyone in her life feel special—if Suzy loved you, you knew it.

The daughter of the Philippine Ambassador, Suzy lived an extraordinary life. From the Philippines to Hawaii, Maryland, and eventually Toronto, Suzy touched the lives of countless people with her generosity, warmth, and lust for life. Working in the financial sector for much of her professional life, she made the decision to change careers in her 50s and went back to school to study her passion: interior decorating.

A devastating lung cancer diagnosis in 2018 forced her into early retirement; however, she used this time to travel, throw epic parties, spend time with her family, and even do one last 5 km running event. Her motto, after all, was “go big or go home!” When a cancer patient passes away, it is sometimes said that they lost their battle with cancer—this is wholly inappropriate in Suzy’s case. In the end, she triumphed, and left this life on her own terms.

Suzy is survived by her daughters, Lindsay and Morgan, her sisters, Caroline, Terry, and Marissa, her niece, Kaitlin, and her mother, Teresita. She will be sorely missed by her grandpups, Odie, Fergie, and Cactus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Suzy’s name to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The Funeral Service will be live streamed via Zoom on Thursday at 11 am here https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87620219583?pwd=WHlaVzlTYkJEYWRLZld0bXF3cVIrZz09

Lindsay and Morgan. My heart goes out to you and your family . Your mother was a truly special person who was passionate in everything she did. Suzy made you laugh , loved to have a good time and she truly cared for people. She was a person who also had opinions and was not afraid to speak them. I am glad she was in my life and will miss her and the times we had.
