Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that our family announces the passing of our Mother and Baba, at the age of 90. We take comfort knowing that her Family in Heaven has lovingly greeted her. Pearl was predeceased by her first husband Jakiw Kozak (1955), infant Grandson Michael Kozak (1972), devoted husband Walter Miskiw (1991), Great Granddaughter Isabella (2003), loving son Michael (2006), Daughter-in Law Carol (2014) and Heather, VJ’s wife, (2014). Pearl is survived by her children Steve Kozak, Bob Kozak, Irene Intenberg (Vic) and daughter in law Kathy Kozak. Baba Pearl was blessed with Grandchildren Steve Jr. (Val), Taras, Natalie (Quincy), Michael Jr., Andrew, Victor Jr., Gregory (Annette), Stephanie (Graham), Katharine (fiancé Trevor). Great Grandchildren Vanessa, Christopher, Sophia, Mykhaila, Parker, Niklas, Pavel, Jackson, Ashley, Charlotte and Adam. Pearl was a shining example of how to carry on with life after tough times. Widowed at age 31 with four young children to take care of, she did everything she could to provide us with the best and most secure childhood she could. Pearl was the best cook and baker in the world and she could grow anything which was evident in her colourful gardens; there were always seedlings on her windowsill. Pearl was the most kind, generous, loving, funny, beautiful, loyal, devoted and caring person, who will be missed and remembered every day. We were blessed to have you in our lives! Thank you to the staff and doctors at Ivan Franko Nursing Home, Trillium Hospital, and Cardinal Funeral Home for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank friends and neighbors who have shown love and support to Pearl over the years. A Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, July 3rd at 10 a.m. at St. Josaphats Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 143 Franklin Avenue, Toronto. Reception to follow the Mass in the Church Hall. Private Interment to be held on Saturday July 4th at St. Volodymyr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA in Pearl’s honour.
