Obituary

DESJARLAIS, RAYMOND JOHN (Ray) It is with immense sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Ray on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at the age of 44. Devoted and beloved Dad of Gabrielle Judith and Roger Jacob. Adored and treasured youngest brother of Danielle and her husband Todd, and Nicole. Loving uncle of Braeden Desjarlais. Ray will be greatly missed by his brother-in-law Bill Guyton and by Suzanne Stamcos, the love he lost and recently found. Predeceased by his parents Roger and Judith, and by his wife, Johanne Desrochers (1998). Ray was a kind and gentle man despite his seemingly tough exterior. For the countless kids who would come and go from his house, he was an open heart, a steady support and someone they could trust to be honest and non-judgemental, always there if they needed help. He was an amazing father, brother and friend and had the spirit of a warrior. His loss and the void it has left us, is profound and endless. The Desjarlais family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the care and compassion we all received from the Nurses and staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston. Your kindness, soft words and offers of cookies will not soon be forgotten. Ray’s family will receive friends at the W. John Thomas Funeral Home, 244 Victoria Street, Alliston on Sunday from 4 – 8 pm, and at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto, on Monday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held in the Chapel of Cardinal Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. Private cremation will follow. In keeping with Ray’s kind and generous spirit, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Alliston and District Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated by his family. As Ray would have said “ OK ramblers, let’s get rambling’”…

Danielle, Nicole, Gabrielle and Roger, I am so sad about the loss of Ray. We had lots and lots of fun together as kids - he always made me laugh and got me into trouble with a threat of being hit with a wooden spoon. Everyone's life pulls them in different directions...but I never forgot about my summers in Scarborough and I will always remember him fondly.

Danielle, It has been years since we were last in touch and I was saddened to read the notice in the paper about your dear brother. I remember the funny stories you would tell about him and he sounded like an amazing person. Words can't convey what you and your family are going through at this time but I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take Care, Debbie (Nieves) Reixach, 416-317-3379
