Mr. Maynardo Forro Farrol

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maynardo Forro Farrol at the age of 78.  He died peacefully on April 23^rd, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario surrounded by his family in spirit and his compassionate caregivers. He is survived by his wife Thelma Corpuz, and two children.  His daughter Denise Anne Ferrer with her husband Rene, and children Ethan and Madison.  His son John Maynard Farrol with his wife Maria, and children Naomi and Joshua.  He was a loving Lolo to his four grandchildren. Maynardo was born in Janiuay, Iloilo, Philippines on April 21, 1942.  He is deceased by parents Socorro Forro and Jose Farrol Sr.  He was the second youngest sibling of seven brothers and sisters.  In the Philippines, he graduated mechanical and electrical engineering.  He worked in telecommunications in Manila and in the sugarcane mills in Iloilo.  He immigrated to Canada in 1970.  Upon reaching Toronto, he worked for The Toronto Star.  Then at the Ministry of Government Services in maintenance for 24 years and retired in 1998. Maynardo was a very hard working, kind hearted, humour filled, spiritual family man.  As a husband, he was patient, devoted and endearingly sweet.  He married Thelma on February 12th, 1972 and celebrated their 48^th Anniversary together.  He often picked the new blossoms from the garden to give to his wife to brighten her day and comfortably provided in their home on Oxford Street for 44 years in the Kensington Market community.  As a father, he always looked towards his children’s future, supported their endeavours and took pride in speaking about them.  As a grandfather, he found joy in making the grandchildren laugh with his stories, sang to them his favourite songs and always hugged them tightly.  As a person of faith, he was very close to God and offered his daily adoration and prayers to Our Mother of Perpetual Help at St. Patrick’s Church. Uncle or Tito Mer was the name he was often called by as he was a very simple, practical and humble Ilongo that made him easy and fun to get along with.  He enjoyed his early travels by long driving through many different States visiting with family and friends.  He also made it to historic places like Spain, France, and Italy.  Many of his favourite past times were gardening, fishing, reading, financing, coffee times and maintaining the home, as he was always such a handy man. As he got older and developed Alzheimer’s disease, Maynardo tried to continue to show his calm, loving and genuine personality to everyone he met.  He always greeted everyone with a generous smile, offered caring advice and loved socializing at family festivities and at church gatherings.  He made sure to use his constant hospitality, humour and gentle words to invite and thank those around him.  He always reminded others to be happy, not to worry too much, and that life was too short, but good to all of us because of the Lords daily blessings. Maynardo will be missed by many who knew and loved him.  He will forever live in all of our hearts.  Rest in peace Dad. With much gratitude for everyone’s sympathies, fond memories and daily prayers. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
