REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF MARIO LEONE
Mario Leone
November 3rd, 1933 – April 4th , 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Mario Giuseppe Leone on April 4th 2023, at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Leone, children, Cathy Columbus (Dale), John Leone (Neil), stepson, Jonathan More, grandchildren, Taylor Paquette (Paul), Amelia Columbus (Ian Wong), greatgrandchildren, Meredith and Winnie Paquette, Chase, Leona Wong and his brother Lucio Leone. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Leone (nee Giannunzio), his parents, Giovanni and Amelia Leone, his brother, Tony Leone and sister Lydia Matulich.
Mario was born the youngest of four children to Amelia and Giovanni Leone in Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Italy. He immigrated to Timmins, ON with his family as a teenager and graduated from Timmins High and Vocational School. Along with his parents and brothers he managed Leone’s Hotel and Restaurant while pursuing studies for his dream career as an investment advisor. His relentless passion and hard work made him successful in his field. He was a prominent figure in the Timmins community and was a long-serving member of the Rotary and Dante Clubs.
In 1960, Mario married Mary who sadly passed away in 1986. They had two children, Cathy and John.
In 1993, Mario married Helen in Timmins, ON. After he retired from RBC Dominion Securities, he and Helen moved to Toronto and they spent their winters in Florida. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and spending time with his family. Mario was a generous, kind and loving person who demonstrated these qualities everyday in his role as a husband, father, zio and most special Nonno.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff at St. Joseph Health Centre.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
