Obituary

John Joseph Munick passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, on Monday October 13th, 2025 at 1:27 in the morning.

John was born in Malartic, Quebec on March 24, 1956 to Carolina Marcola and Stanko Munich. One of five siblings, Johnny lived his life exactly the way he intended, calling Toronto his home for over forty years.

Known as “the King of Ronce”, Johnny was well known in the neighborhood, as you could see him walking or biking up and down the street in his infamous Tilly hat.

John was a seasoned traveler. Throughout his life he visited over twenty countries, and had friends all over the world. When we asked him to pick a favourite country out of them all, he did not hesitate to say Croatia.

Johnny made friends everywhere he went, which was evident over the last month while he was in hospital. While his declining health challenged him, he never let us know it. Always greeting visitors, and making sure they left with a handshake.

The family would like to thank his friends for sharing stories, memories, and pictures with us in his final days. Johnny was a very private man, so we are grateful to have had a glimpse into the life he lived.

As Johnny has requested, there will be no funeral, but a celebration of life (details to follow on this page). His final adventure will be to Glenwood Cemetery, Picton, Ontario.
