Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Arminda Medeiros following a short illness. Arminda is pre-deceased by her husband Manuel and son Alvaro. She is survived by her children Helen Sinopoli (Alfred), Paula Pereira (Joe), Fernando Medeiros (Karen), Mary Jo Medeiros (Tom Fitzgerald) and Maria Costa (Paul).

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Mary Jo Pritchard (Chris), Nicole Bradshaw (Paul), Frank Sinopoli, Kelly Costa (Steve), Melissa Pereira Lourenco (Jason), Derek Pereira (LeeAnn), Gavan Fitzgerald, Justin Costa and Jordan Costa.

Proud Great-grandmother to Harper, Evan, Ava, Olivia, Leah, Jake, Emma and Avery.

Arminda came to Canada to join her husband Manuel in 1976. They were hard-working and determined to build a better life for their family. And they did just that. Arminda was compassionate and kind to every person who crossed her path. She had a twinkle in her eye, and a warm greeting for everyone she met. She loved a song and often sang to her family.

Arminda leaves behind the most wonderful legacy of love amongst all who had the pleasure of knowing her, especially her loving family members in Toronto, Montreal and Ribeira Grande, Portugal. She loved staying involved, connected and spending time with her 9 grand children, 8 great grandchildren and her extended grandchildren family, Rachel, Hannah and Matthew Roberts, who she was very fond of.

The family wish to thank the staff at Kensington Hospice for their excellent care and compassionate support during Arminda’s stay. Donations may be made to Kensington Health Center here.

Loosing you is a heartbreaking great void . There was so much I admire you for .What I admired most about Tia was her unwavering optimism – even in the face of tough challenges, she remained resilient, finding light in the darkest of moments and being a pillar of strength and a source of encouragement for us all. Her open heart to welcome acceptance to anyone that walked through that front door. She was my second Mama for many years prior to my mom’s passing her willingness to help me never failed . I loved when she sang to us when we were young kids and carried into our adulthood. What a great voice she has I will play back videos of great memories together. The long winter Sundays we gathered in the basement were the best laughter . My dear Tia I will miss you very much ! Love you meu amore “Your words in my mind saying Love you too” Never forgotten , always 💕🙏

It's with a heavy heart that I write this, holding back tears. My deepest condolences to the Medeiros family and grandkids during this difficult time. I will always remember Senhora Arminda’s kindness how she welcomed me into her home with open arms. I’ll miss you dearly, every inside joke and the loud laughs. I know you’re smiling down on all of us, and we’ll carry your light in our hearts forever. May the family find comfort in one another and in the beautiful memories you’ve shared. Keep those memories alive. Senhora Arminda, give my daddy and Bina a big hug for me. You’ll forever be in my heart and so many. You left a mark on all of us and I will always cherish. Rest in Paradise, Querida. ❤️
