Obituary

With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Chevon Renee Stewart, born on July 6, 1982, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who peacefully departed this life on December 1, 2025. Chevon was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her children: Jay’rel Sheldon Stewart, Tyi’von Otis Stewart-Noel, Adina Stewart-Noel, and Tiyanna Stewart-Noel, who were the pride and joy of her life. She is survived by her father, Sheldon Vaughn Humby and stepmother, Vera Ann Downey (Toronto); brother, Tyrone Stewart (Toronto); sister, Myrtle “Meme” Downey (Toronto); her companion, Otis Noel; her god-father, Granville Marsman; god-mother Carolyn Downey and her aunt, Jocelyn Steward-Dixon. She is also lovingly remembered by her special uncles, Phil Izzard and Aaron Slawter, and her special brother Cornelius Clayton, cousins Tammy Dixon-Rogers, and her sons Christian, Thomas Jr., and Gabriel, of Atlanta, Georgia, special aunt and uncle Simon and Lucy Jackson, along with many extended family members and friends. Chevon was predeceased by her mother, Joanne Marie Stewart; her brother, Jason Stewart; her maternal grandparents, Thelma Clayton, William Clayton, Jeanette Steward-Dixon, and Daniel Izzard; her paternal grandparents, Thelma and Lorne Slawter; her great aunt, Verna Marie Steward-Alfonzo; her great uncle, David Steward (affectionately known as “Skippy”); her aunt, Marsha Dixon; her uncles, Eric Dixon and Dean Izzard; and other beloved family members who welcomed her home. A visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service to follow. Chevon will be remembered for her love for her children, her strength, and the deep imprint she leaves on the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
