Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Marion Patrick who passed away on October 23, 2025, lost too soon at the age of 65.
She was born in Windsor Ontario, on September 1, 1960 to the late John W Patrick “Jack” and Mary Ann (nee Pillon) Patrick. She leaves behind beloved family and friends who will carry her memory forward. Being a mother was her greatest joy, and she will be missed and forever loved by her children Daniel Diemer (Susannah), Crystal Rousseau (Geoff), Amanda Ada Diemer, and John Diemer, and by her beloved grandchildren Cody, Max, Oscar, Harvey, and Charlie. Known by many names—Shirley, Mom, Gramme, Sister, and Aunt Shirley—she built a family over a lifetime that extended well beyond blood. All who knew her are part of that family and will continue to carry her influence with them.
Shirley was a strong and beautiful woman, deeply rooted in her faith, and dearly loved by many. She was known for her love for her family and friends, her playful nature, and her generous spirit. She connected to people beyond the surface, with sincerity and honesty. Even in first meetings, she had a way of creating genuine connection, as though strangers were simply friends she hadn’t met yet. She had a special way of creating genuine connection, as though sShirley lived with courage and strength, finding contentment in the quiet of home while remaining open to adventure, travel, and new chapters.
Her passing is a heartbreaking loss for all who loved her. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her, including John Patrick, and Jay Louise. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Center in Toronto for the compassionate care they provided to Shirley and her family.
Celebrations of life will be held in Toronto and Essex County in Spring 2026, as well as in Western Canada in Summer 2026.
