Obituary

Brent was born and raised in North York, one of four siblings. He loved exploring the countryside of Yonge / Finch on his bike and enjoying nature and the singing of birds. He knew early on that he wanted to go into forestry. He completed his B.SC. Forestry at University of Toronto. Subsequently he worked with his beloved trees all his life.

After marrying Luba he became a staunch Parkdalian. Brent loved his books, classical music, his walks with his German Sheppards and anything wood.

He was welcomed into the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church parish by Fr. John where he made many friends. Brent also joined a wood-turning guild with the help of his friend Mark. Brent was in hospital for a couple of weeks before passing away on July 27, 2025.

Sincere thanks for the professional and compassionate care of the Doctors, Nurses and Staff in the E.R. and on the Fourth floor of St. Joseph’s Health Center. Brent leaves behind his loving Wife, Luba, and German Sheppard, Matrix. Rest in Peace My Love, in God’s hands.

Dearest Luba, family, and friends. How sorry I am for you at Brent's passing. As a Hort member, his gentle and straight-shooting guidance on the proper care of trees is enduring and unforgettable. I wish to be able to see some of his collection of fence piece and other ignored items embedded into tree parts again. Strong, soft-spoken, and telling a serious story with humour, just like Brent. We have all learned from him. caring about you all,
