Obituary

It is with immense heartbreak and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jose Carlos Mendonça on February 11, 2026. In his final days and moments, he was surrounded with the love and comfort of those he valued most.

Predeceased by his loving wife Adriana Maria Mendonça and survived by his devoted companion Zelia Cordeiro. Beloved father of Carmen (Cosmo), Inesia (Stergios) and Sonia (Bruno).

He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Larissa, Stefan, Matteo, Milana and Nicholas.

Jose Carlos Mendonça was 80 years old, born in Portugal on February 9, 1946 in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores.

Jose Carlos Mendonça will always be remembered for the way he cared for his family, the strong friendships he built and his lifelong love for soccer, in particular his favourite team Porto. He will be greatly missed and forever held in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of Jose would be greatly appreciated.

Friends are invited to the Cardinal Funeral Home - Bathurst (366 Bathurst Street) Friday, February 13, 2026 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm for visiting.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 9:30am at St. Agnes' Parish (15 Grace Street).  Entombment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery - Paradise Mausoleum (2845 Bloor Street West)
