Obituary

God called Jose peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 70, warmly surrounded by his loving family.

Jose was born in Horta, Faial, Azores, Portugal. Later, he immigrated to Canada, where he met his beloved wife and best friend, Maria Margarida, whom he adored.

He was a devoted father to his son Scotty, a loving father-in-law to Vanessa, and an adoring Avô to Holden and Emory.

Jose joins his late siblings Joao and Saozinha in rest and will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings and their spouses: Luis (Fatima), Paulo (Monica), Alda (Pedro), Lourdes (Raul), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Jose Goncalves Cipriano and Maria De Lurdes Silveira.

Jose was a devoted family man, and his passing leaves a great void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his big heart, his love of making others laugh, his caring nature, and as everyone’s most beloved appliance technician, Sr. Faial.

We are forever grateful for the memories, the love, and the laughter that Jose brought into our lives. We will cherish them always.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We will never forget your laughter, your warmth, and the way you always made us feel loved. You were more than an uncle—you were family in the deepest sense. We love you always, Tio Joe.

Joe was one of the nicest Portuguese men I’ve ever known. I don’t think I ever seen him without a smile on his face. Even when Scotty and I caused trouble as teenagers he would just laugh and call us silly rabbits 🥲. My heart breaks knowing that I haven’t seen him in a couple years. A regret I will forever hold now… I cry every time see the family post about you Joe. You left a void that can never be filled. Everything was always ok when you were around. When Scotty first started his heating and air company , I worked with him as a helper & anytime he was stuck on a job, you would show up with a smile, crack a joke and solve the problem. One time I drove an ATV illegally to Scotty’s house & about 100 meters away from the house a cop car saw me and chased me into your lane way which was a dead end. I had no where to go and would have been caught. You were outside and saw me and without hesitation you quickly let me into your backyard to hide. When the cop asked if u saw a guy on the an atv pass by , I heard you respond with “ ya, I see the crazy guy pass by me and then he go that way and he disappear!” 😂 ….Saving me from getting in trouble. Just one of many memories that I’ll never forget. Rip Joe. Wish I could tell you how much you meant to me before you passed 💔
