Obituary

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt Elaine (Farley) Koumoutseas. She was a source of endless love, strength and support for our family. Her generous and warm spirit was a guiding light for our family as it touched everyone she met. Elaine embodied grace and sophistication. She was charming, intelligent, witty, generous, intuitive, kind and compassionate towards all.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday January 18 at Mount Sinai Hospital after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness. Elaine ‘Farley’ Koumoutseas is predeceased by the love of her life, husband Steve ‘Stelios’ Koumoutseas. She is survived by her children Patrice and Stath, her son-in law James Meredith and her grandchildren Christian and Steven, and niece Karen Farley (pre-deceased), Craig Farley and was great aunt to Shaun and Aiden Farley, Karen’s boys.

Elaine was one of three siblings- her eldest brother (pre-deceased) Brian and younger brother (pre- deceased) Louis Farley ( Karen, Craig) born to parents Helen ‘ Nellie’ Flynn and James Farley in Edinburgh, Scotland and grew up in the harsh conditions of World War II in the U.K. She moved to Toronto, Canada in 1957 and met the love of her life Steve ‘Stelios’ Koumoutseas who immigrated to Canada from Sparta, Greece in 1956. She will be remembered for her quick wit and her warm and compassionate demeanor always willing to selflessly put others needs ahead of hers.

Elaine loved watching and spending time experiencing movies with her children and grandchildren and was incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the motion picture industry. She loved shopping, had a classic style and an ‘appreciation of quality’

Mom we will miss you so much as you are and always will be such a massive part of all of our lives.

You were our rock when things became difficult and the person we always turned to for advice and direction. Just knowing you were there with your loving compassion and support was everything! You will be deeply and forever loved and dearly missed.
