Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Fernanda Pereira, on November 19, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born in Portugal on July 8, 1934, Fernanda built a life defined by courage, resilience, and quiet accomplishment. After immigrating to Canada, she embraced her new country wholeheartedly, grateful for the opportunities it offered and determined to make the most of them. She spent most of her working life in the garment industry, where her intelligence, discipline, and strong work ethic made her a respected colleague and a skilled craftswoman.

Fernanda had an endlessly creative mind and a deep love of staying active—whether through sewing, cooking, organizing, or tackling any task she set her sights on. She was strong-willed, generous of heart, and consistently thoughtful toward others. Her kindness left an imprint on everyone who knew her.

Though she treasured the life she built in Canada, her heart always remained closely tied to her home in Portugal, where she found peace, joy, and a profound sense of belonging.

Fernanda was predeceased by her beloved husband and life partner. She leaves behind her two devoted sons, Francisco and Paulo, who will forever carry her love, guidance, and example in their lives.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Zira, Lina, and Fatima for the compassionate care, support, and companionship they provided to our mother throughout the last years of her life. Their kindness brought comfort not only to Fernanda, but also to our entire family.

Fernanda will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, generosity, creativity, and the remarkable life she forged with grace and determination.

The family kindly suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society.
