Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce that Lucia has been reunited with her beloved husband Ettore on June 5th, 2025.

She passed peacefully in her family home in Toronto at the age of 98.

Lucia was born in Paola Cosenza, Italy on March 23, 1927 to her Parents Antonio and Eugenia.

She met the love of her life Ettore in the hills of Italy, and was married in 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1955 to prepare a new home for her family.

Lucia loved life and lived it to the fullest.  She had a special way of connecting to people with her warm, generous heart and wonderful and funny sense of humour.  Everyone she encountered, fell in love with her and she always made family and friends feel so welcome in our home.  Throughout her life, she maintained a curiosity for learning and sharing much of her wisdom not only with me, but countless others.  A sharp mind, still reciting poems and songs she learned as a young girl back home in Italy. She would share stories that would make everyone laugh uncontrollably.

She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her devoted daughter Tina (Ralph), loved and cherished Nonna to her grandchildren Mauro and Lucia, a loving sister, and will certainly be dearly missed by many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers in law, sisters in law, and friends.

It is my hope that we all carry the beautiful memories and wonderful times shared with her in our hearts forever.

On behalf of the Luchetta family, sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, medical teams and PSW’s who took great care of her with such love, patience, compassion and devotion, and all others for their many telephone calls, chats and showing of support in many other ways during Lucia’s  illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis of Assisi Parish (Toronto) would be greatly appreciated.
