Obituary

Maria (Moulavka) Kotowych, passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on February 20, 2026 at the age of 87.
Preceded in death by her first husband Jaroslav and her late husband Vasyl, 
Loving mother to Ivan (Halya) and Pavlo (Halya).  Cherished baba to 5 grandchildren Natalie (Jeff), Andrij, Zachary (Sara), Dimitri (Alyssa) and Nicholas (Megan).  Pra-baba to 3 great-grandchildren Simon, Sebastian and Anastasia.  
Maria was born in Leshniv, Ukraine and moved to Canada with her family to start a new life in 1978.  She was very happy to be reunited with her parents; her father who she has not seen since she was four years old, and her mother for 12 years prior to her arrival to Canada. 
For many years she worked for Firchuk’s textiles on Queen Street and in her later years she worked for Ukrainian Canadian Care centre.
She was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and was known for the boundless hospitality not only towards her family, friends, neighbours, but anyone in need. Her doors were always open .
Maria’s faith sustained her throughout  her life.  She loved attending church and was devout to her religion. 
She will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts.
