Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father Antonio Da Silva on April 5, 2023 at the age of 94. He was born in Sao Miguel, Azores on July 3, 1928 and immigrated to Canada in the mid 50’s.  He was very proud when he received his Canadian Citizenship but his heart always belonged to a small town in Azores, Portugal. He was the beloved husband of the late Olinda Da Silva.  Beloved father to Dolores (David), Frank (Louise), Terry (Lavelle), Anthony (Paula), David (Lidia) and Ken (Elizabeth).  Loving grandfather to Lisa, Vanessa, Cindy, Matthew, Nathan and Madison Olinda.  Dear great-grandfather to Katrina, Violet and Arthur. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and friends both in Canada and Portugal.  He will always be remembered as a strong and independent man with high standards of work ethics. He was a wonderful story teller who shared his life experiences with such emotion. He had a passion for band music and still until the age of 94, would love to play his Portuguese guitar.    He was a devout Catholic who attended mass daily and loved his Portuguese traditions. Dad, you will never be forgotten and will forever be missed by all. We love you always.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I always remember seeing him at the church festas. Loved the stories and memories my parents used to tell me about him. My parents lived in his second floor home and in every Sunday in the summertime took his family to Centre Island, my parents would go to dragging me along as a baby. Have some memorable pics of those fun to times

Please accept our deepest condolences to the Da Siva family. Growing up I recall many visits to the Da Silva home. Mr. Da Silva was a homeland friend of my Father. I remember the warmth in which we were always received. Make Mr. Da Silva be at peace in his eternal rest. To the family may his memory always be a blessing.

our sincerest condolences to the Da Silvas' and extended Family. We are so heartbroken for you all. Senhor Antonio and his wife Senhora Olinda were wonderful neighbours of ours since I was a child. Always happy, a jokester and respectful person. You are now reunited with your love. You missed her so, so much since God took her. May God stay with you all during this time of mourning. Our thoughts are with you all. Lord, we come before you with heavy hearts as we pray for the soul of Antonio Da Silva. Please bring him into your loving arms and grant him peace and rest. We also pray for those who are left behind, that they would find comfort and hope in your presence and the promise of eternal life. May Antonio's soul find rest and peace in your loving arms. In your precious name we pray, Amen.” Hilda and Henry Andrade Januario and Maria Umbelina
