Obituary

In loving memory of Euclides Pereira who passed away on January 9, 2024 in his 87th year. Euclides is survived by his devoted wife Maria Francelina of 63 years. Loving father to Joe (Ellen) and Lidia, and cherished grandfather to Elizabeth and Michael. Euclides was born in Água Retorta Povoaçáo, Portugal and came to Canada in 1965. His wife and son followed a few years later. Always a hard worker, he wanted to make sure he was well established before bringing the family.

He spent many years working on major construction projects that shaped Toronto. His hands touched the foundations of the CN Tower, SkyDome, Yonge extension subway line, and countless buildings - ending his career with the Sheppard Line.

Euclides loved his guitar, making wine, and dancing. Making wine was a family event where he shared his passion with friends, son, and grandchildren.

His greatest love was his wife. When courting Maria, he would serenade her at the window and leave her gifts and trinkets – one of which was a little statue of a man playing a guitar. Always the romantic, at their 50th Anniversary, he got down on one knee and proposed again.

When he was told he had to stop salt, he said “food without salt is like love without kisses”. Eternally the poet. He will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
