Jorge, Theresa and Santos family Sincere condolences on hearing Fausto passed away. I enjoyed his company in Sydney, Australia for 2 weeks for grandson (Calvin's graduation). His gentle nature and smile forever etched in my memory...whilst dipping his feet at Bondi beach, enjoying fish n chips. He respectfully spoke of the GOAN president of Portugal.... Dressed in style everyday. Arcelina you took good care of your husband with patience & love.... My room mate- Gena,I witnessed your love and attention to your Dads needs too on this long distance holiday. He was so happy to travel so far! May his soul get REST & PEACE and memories live forever.

In loving memory of our dear Dad, Father-in-law, and Grandpa Fausto, a man who lived with the zest of a seasoned sailor navigating the unpredictable seas of life, departed this world but left behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and a quirky sense of humor that warmed our hearts. Born in a picturesque village in Portugal on October 18th, 1938, Fausto emerged as a model of resilience in the face of life's challenges. A lone survivor among his siblings, he embodied the spirit of defying the odds from the very beginning. The story has it that love found him at a fair in Portugal, where he met Grandma, and their love story unfolded like the most captivating telenovela. Their union was as unforgettable as the first taste of a delicious pastel de nata, and together, they embarked on a life filled with adventures. Joining the Navy despite his swimming skills being comparable to a rock, Grandpa faced his fears with bravery and tenacity. His barbed wire escapade, where he pulled himself to safety depicted his unwavering determination. The family tree blossomed with the arrival of children, each adding a unique hue to the vibrant portrait of their lives. From Elizabeth, Gena, Fausto, Fern, Archie, Jorge, and Angelita, each child brought joy, laughter, and mischief to their home. Fausto and Arcelina's journey to Canada symbolized their dedication to providing a better future for their family. Through hard work on construction sites, cleaning houses, and factory jobs, they instilled values of perseverance and commitment in their children. Grandpa's sweet tooth was as legendary as his love for Grandma, which lasted for 63 years and was sweeter than all the pastries in Portugal combined. His love for gardening, raising rabbits, and even the backyard sparrow hunting expedition reflected his adventurous spirit and love for nature. A memorable moment etched in my heart is Grandpa's excitement for the Santa Claus parade when Calvin was a baby, where his eagerness led him to race ahead and secure a spot in the crowd. His dedication to family, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his wife were unwavering till the end. In his final years, he treasured moments spent with family, cherishing gatherings and vacations with grandma, us children and his grandchildren. His life was a testament to living with gusto and an occasional barbed wire escapade. As he would always proclaim at our family gatherings, "we'll do it all together again next year." Fausto's spirit of humility, forgiveness, resilience, and humor lives on in our hearts. His classic grandpa move of asking someone to pull his finger, followed by a mock fart that never failed to bring laughter, will always be cherished. As he often reminded us, "everything will be okay," may his spirit guide us through life's challenges. In loving memory, Theresa Santos
