Obituary
On July 19th, 1963, Horacio Neto Leal was born in the village of Valado de Santa Quiteria. With humble beginnings, he lost his own father at only a few months of age, a tragedy that would enshrine his deep value for family and friends for the rest of his life. He grew up in Caldas da Rainha with his mother, Ilda, and sister, Isabel.
At the age of 20, he moved to Toronto, where he met the love of his life, Preciosa. With ambition on his mind, a hard work ethic and his wife’s constant support, he blazed a path that would see him grow into a man who drew respect and admiration from all those who got to know him. With 40 years in the construction industry, he left his mark on innumerable projects in the region, helping build Toronto into the city it is today. He always remembered those who helped him through his career, dedicating much of his life to improving the lives of fellow union members.
Family first, he was immensely proud of his sons, Philip and Brandon, showing unending support and encouragement in all their endeavours. He was a loving and supportive husband to Preciosa, with whom he travelled endless miles, shared walks on the beach and countless hours of laughter with their friends.
From his days playing on the local soccer team in Caldas da Rainha, to swimming wherever a beach could be found, he loved the sunshine. You would often find him running or cycling along the Humber River, or walking with his furry friend, Milo. A beach boy by day, and disco king by night, Horacio enjoyed life to the fullest.
On October 29th, 2024, he passed away in the comforting embrace of his wife.
He is survived by Preciosa, Philip and Brandon. Horacio leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, and will be remembered for the love he gave to his family and the smiles he brought to everyone's face.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made directly to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada
