Obituary

Hubert Llewellyn Phillips (aka Seymour) beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away just shy of his 84th birthday. He was born on March 7, 1941, in Jamaica. The economic climate of the time shaped a generation known for its resilience, resourcefulness, and mental fortitude. Hubert embodied these qualities and made an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A man of complexity, Hubert could be difficult at times, but friends and family understood that his strength lay in his deep convictions and unwavering principles. His passion for life was evident in everything he did. He enjoyed gospel music and worked hard - never missing a day from work. Whether he was found at Greenwood Racetrack admiring the legendary Secretariat, or indulging in the simple pleasures of life, like bringing home flavourful jerk chicken from social events, Hubert embraced his interests wholeheartedly. His love for cars, especially the classic 1970s Monte Carlo, was another reflection of his vibrant spirit.

Hubert was the sixth of seven children and shared a close bond with his siblings. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to seven children: Veronica, Wayne, Hillary, Courtney, Sheryl, Raymond, and Jeffrey. His legacy lives on through his children, his fourteen grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, who carry on his values and love for life.

As a man who experienced the full spectrum of life, Hubert’s greatest legacy is found in his return to God in his final days. His faith gave him peace, and it is that peace which accompanies him to wait on the Lord.

Though Hubert has left this world, his strength, passion, and love will continue to resonate within his family and all who were touched by his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Iris, who stayed the course and loved faithfully until the end.
