It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
 
João was born in Furnas, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal 
in 1936 and immigrated to Canada in 1971.
João Always held his fond love for the Açores, The family still owns their first home there!
 
João Borges Quieto was the son of
pre-deceased João Furtado Quieto 
Pre-deceased Maria do Carmo Borges
The loving brother of 
Pre-deceased Maria da Conceição Borges Quieto
Pre-deceased Manuel Borges Quieto
João leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews!
 
João worked most of his life as a landscaper, He took great pride in his work! His garden was always immaculate and well-maintained, and always willing to offer a helping hand to family friends and neighbours with their gardens!
 
João was a very loving person who would greet every neighbour while walking about the neighbourhood,
Always willing to offer a helping hand when needed!
 
He would greet everyone when entering a full room of people, wherever it may be! With only a simple glance, João always made a child laugh or smile in his presence!
 
Joao also enjoyed very much his walks down to Bloor Street where he would get his daily coffee at the local bakery, he was nicknamed 75 by the locals, as that was the cost of a small coffee at the time. 
 
João leaves behind his beloved wife Maria Natalia Borges Quieto of 62 years of marriage, Their love was like no other, truly inspirational. He was the proud father of four sons, daughter-in-law‘s and one daughter pre-deceased at infancy.

João Borges Quieto was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the light of our lives and he brought immense joy to all who knew him. Joao would put the needs of others always before his own, He will be greatly missed. We will never forget his kindness, sense of humour, honesty, sincerity, irresistible laugh, unimaginable strength and welcoming love. He was truly a remarkable human, who’s generosity, selflessness and compassion touched everyone who knew him, his strength will forever be an inspiration! To us, you will always be our Tio João, the shining star up above guiding our way. Due to the current pandemic restrictions and under direction from our regulator, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, effective November 23, 2020 all funerals and visitations will be by invitation only to limit the number of people in attendance and prevent the spread of COVID-19. We encourage those that are unable to attend in person to express their sympathy by posting a message of condolence to our website, donating to the Alzheimer's Society of Toronto (https://alz.to/) or by sending flowers to the funeral home.
