18 November 1927 - 2 April 2008Peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Toronto Western Hospital on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of the late Etelvina. Loving father of Luciano Almeida Matias, and Jose G. Matias and his wife Filomena. Devoted grandfather of Julia and Vitoria. Dear brother of Manuel, Antonio, Herminia and the late Maria. Jose will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Our family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Toronto Western Hospital for their compassionate care. Friends may call at the Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street (near Dundas) on Saturday & Sunday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 9 am at St. Mary's Church (Bathurst & Adelaide) with interment following at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. "
