Obituary
It is with deep sadness the Freitas family announce the passing of Mauricio Serpa Freitas on February 4, 2021, while surrounded by his family, at the age of 85. Mauricio was born in Flores, Acores, then moved to Terceira, Acores in his teenage years and eventually moving to Canada in 1966. Mauricio was a man of many things and most importantly he was a husband of over 61 years to Adelina Castro Freitas, father to Joe Mauricio Freitas, Maria Adelina Teixiera, Maria Alda Scarselletta, Elma Amato and Ana Maria Libano; 10 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters, father in law, brother, brother in law, uncle, godfather, cousin and a friend to many. He was a man who was larger than life, who could make the room tremble with the sound of his laughter or jolt a person forward with a friendly slap on their back. He was an entrepreneur with integrity, drive and a strong work ethic. Mauricio was also very proud to have helped build the roadways and many landmarks around the City of Toronto; landmarks that his children and grandchildren will always remember he was part of.
The family will also like to send a heartfelt thanks for your love, support and kind words during this time.
