Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Aldora Maria De Freitas Da Cunha announce her passing after a short battle with cancer on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the age of 83.

Aldora was born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Açores on March 27th, 1940.  At the tender age of eight she moved with her family to São Pedro, Terceira Açores where she met and married her best friend and great love Victor on May 20th, 1962.  The following year they had their first child Paulo Jorge.  In March of 1966 Aldora and her family immigrated to Toronto, Ontario.  In June of 1970 they had their daughter Suzanne Maria.  Aldora lived 50 years in the home she had raised her children and grandchildren in until the day she peacefully took her last breath.

Throughout the last 8 years Aldora was an active board member of Casa dos Açores do Ontario where she was loved and cherished by all of the board members. She contributed to much of the laughter in the kitchen as they prepared for events.

Aldora will forever be remembered by her family and friends for being a loyal, funny and sincere person.  Wherever she was she filled the room with loud conversation and much laughter.

Aldora will be lovingly remembered by her children, Paulo Jorge and Suzanne; grandchildren, Alexander(Julia), Christopher (Olivia); great-grandson, Jackson Rhodes; brother, Armindo; and numerous other family members and friends.

Aldora was predeceased by her parents, Artur and Maria Theresa; sibling, Duarte.

Our sincerest condolences to Sue and Paul and the entire family. We are heartbroken and our minds are flooded with precious family moments that will never be forgotten. She was a sister to my mom and a bright light to everyone she encountered. We are comforted knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband. Forever loved and remembered, Anna Da Costa & Antuerpia Maria Da Costa
